About Us
Who We Are
Families Helping Families of the Lowcountry (FHFL) is a program of the statewide nonprofit Palmetto Project. It is modeled after the longstanding FHF in the Midlands (FHFM) partnership with WIS News 10 (Grey Media) that began in 1990 to provide holiday assistance to families in need through grassroots support. Together, Palmetto Project, WIS News 10, and the Midlands community have cared for their neighbors for 35 years. The donors, sponsors, and volunteers in the Midlands are what have made FHFM a success.
In 2024, the new President & CEO of Palmetto Project, Aaron Polkey, committed to bringing the magic of FHF to the Lowcountry.
And this year, Anna Gray, our Associate Director of Thriving Families at Palmetto Project, is helping make that commitment a reality through FHF of the Lowcountry (FHFL).
With our Lowcountry neighbors just like you, Palmetto Project will ensure that children at Midland Park Primary School will start the school year ready to learn through our FHFL back-to-school drive. And this autumn, Palmetto Project is partnering with Charleston County School District to provide the joy of the holiday season to more than 500 students (through high school) and their families in need through our holiday assistance program.
But we cannot do it without you. Every donor, sponsor, and volunteer will make the “happiest season of all” the most generous season of all in the Lowcountry.
