Families Helping Families
Holiday assistance program
The Families Helping Families (FHF) program began in the Midlands (FHFM) in 1990 as a partnership between the non-profit Palmetto Project and WIS News 10.
In 2025, Palmetto Project is bringing the FHF model of holiday assistance it is coming to the Lowcountry (FHFL)!
FHFL provides a business-like approach to organizing holiday giving for the neediest.
Beginning in August 2025, Palmetto Project will receive referrals from the Charleston County School District for chidlren and their families who are displaced or in need of assistance.
By coordinating with the Charleston County School District, FHFL will ensure that donations and charitable giving are targeted to those children & families who need help the most.
By eliminating duplication of services amongst other Lowcountry agencies, we can do more for more families in need of food, clothing, and Christmas cheer.
And teachers and social workers can focus on what is most important – education.
