Our History
In 1990, our Midlands office innovated a new model of community giving in partnership with WIS News 10 and the incredible local community through Families Helping Families (FHF), which provides grassroots support between neighbors for holiday giving, back-to-school, and emergency disaster relief.
In 2025, Palmetto Project brought FHF to the Lowcountry (FHFL)!
Throught this special new partnership, we provided 600 Pre-K and K5 students at Midland Park Primary School in North Charleston with backpacks, school supplies, and classroom needs since 2025.

How it works
Our Process
Our 2nd Annual Back-to-School Supply Drive (2026) will provide back-to-school support and holiday assistance to local families in need with your support.
- The Palmetto Project team partnered with Midland Park Primary School (MPPS) to provide brand-new backpacks with school supplies to Pre-K and K5 students in need. In 2025, we supported 300 students in Pre-K and K5 at MPPS for back-to-school.
- Our holiday assistance program will continue providing the magic of the season to over hundreds of unhoused students (and their families) from the Charleston County School District (CCSD) who have been displaced and are in need.

- All referrals to FHFL must be received via CCSD staff (i.e., teachers, social workers, guidance counselors, etc.) who have confirmed eligibilty of their students & families.
